Exploring Climate Change at the Botanical Garden Düsseldorf
Join us for a fascinating guided tour through the Botanical Garden Düsseldorf to discover how climate change is already making its mark on the plant world right here.
Our journey begins in front of the main dome at the main entrance. From there, we´ll explore various areas of the garden, observing firsthand the subtle yet significant changes impacting different plant species. We´ll look at how altered temperatures and precipitation patterns affect native plants and discuss which species might be struggling or even thriving under new conditions. You´ll see concrete examples of plants reacting to these shifts, and we´ll talk about the role botanical gardens play in understanding and mitigating these global challenges.
This tour offers a unique opportunity to experience and learn about the local impacts of climate change in a living, breathing environment.
The tour takes place in all weather conditions. In case of rain, we will primarily move our observations and discussions indoors to the glasshouses. Make sure to bring weather appropriate clothing.
